The Summit brought together public sector leaders, business and private sector leaders, civil society organizations, development finance institutions, commercial banks, and other actors to discuss concrete solutions for transforming African medium cities to Sustainable cities in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the AU Africa 2063 Agenda.
CMR Group participated as a leading private sector company working with medium and large housing developments and mixed use developments in Intermediary Cities to incorporate reliable sustainable energy solutions, hence ensuring that as Cities push to meet housing demands, these projects integrate low carbon solutions while ensuring power reliability.
The CEO of CMR Group, Yves Barraquand was invited as a guest speaker on one of the Panels to represent the private sector to share concrete experiences of CMR Group in working with mixed used housing developments in selected countries across Africa. Other participants at the session included Mayors, heads of government agencies, Financial Institutions and Civil Society Organizations. The CEO of CMR Group used the platform to reassure African Cities and Stakeholders that the low carbon technologies are already available to ensure our housing developments on the Continent are smart and sustainable, and there are concrete examples from the work CMR Group is doing on the continent, especially in intermediary cities, along with other private sector partners.
CMR Group also had an exhibition booth at the French Pavilion and had the pleasure of interacting with delegates and visitors, and discussing collaborations around smart and sustainable cities across Africa. CMR’s Commercial Solar Division Director, John Okoro, joined other representatives of French companies to share details about cutting edge solutions and value proposition for Sustainable African Cities, during dedicated sessions organized by Business France and the French Embassy.
CMR Group’s participation at the 9th Edition of the Africities Summit, which was the first time the summit was held in an intermediary city, is a re-affirmation of our Group’s commitment to working in collaboration with private and public sector partners across the Continent to deploy clean and sustainable energy solutions for housing developments to transform our cities to smart and sustainable cities, in line with the sustainable development goals and the Africa 2063 agenda.
