The Group’s India operation in Pune has been boosted by the recruitment of a new application engineering team to support the firm’s burgeoning presence in the domestic OEM market – an initiative that’s set to boost the mechanical engineering expertise Group-wide.

Guillaume Ré, CMR France’s application engineering manager, will lead the new team build with the support of Mahesh Shinde, CMR India’s operations manager.

The move will see the incorporation of all CMR India’s resources within a new-look domestic set-up that will benefit from significantly larger and improved manufacturing, engineering and sales capabilities from 2018 onwards.

In the Far East, Song Wan has joined as sales manager for the firm’s China operation in Suzhou, bringing more than 12 years’ experience and expertise in industrial sector sales to the role, as he looks to develop business in China’s burgeoning domestic energy market.

Over the past 12 months, new recruits to the engineering team have boosted capacity and strengthened CMR China’s position as a future centre for highly skilled engineering resources catering for the Asia-Pacific region.

Moreover, larger facilities due to come on stream from January 2018 will further boost manufacturing capabilities and provide the backdrop for expanded engineering and sales teams.

Elsewhere, in the UK, Jonathan Gamble has been appointed as supply chain manager based at the firm’s Newcastle upon Tyne office. There, he will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies around inventory management, forecasting and demand management.

He will also be responsible for implementing process improvement into the supply chain to maintain stock at optimum levels, increase profitability and improve delivery to the customer.

Employing approximately 700 people located across ten international operations, CMR, which has its head office in Marseille, France, currently has sales revenue of more than €60 million.

The company reports that it has seen a consistent rise in demand for its products and expertise across all markets but specifically in India and China.

OEM Engines Managing Director Neil Wilkinson said: “Undoubtedly, these countries are emerging world super powers with first class levels of education, huge domestic markets, excellent engineering skills, and a growing focus on emission control and sustainable development."

“We recognise that it is now time to leverage our decade long presence in both locations with major investments in people and capacity.”

He added that the investment in global operations will secure CMR’s ability to meet customer requirements and support new product development plans.

“All the new starters bring considerable industrial experience and expertise to their respective positions and I look forward to them playing a key part in our ongoing success,” Neil Wilkinson added.

The CMR Group supplies instrumentation and controls for offshore platforms and vessels, marine, engines and industrial applications world-wide. With core product groups including rugged cable systems, controls, custom products, electronics, alarm monitoring and safety systems, industrial sensors, and software, the company is an engineering partner for many leading manufacturers.
