CMR Products has clinched an order from electrical contractors System Electric to build a prototype for a Fuel Monitoring System (FMS) for the marine environment.
The FMS will feature as an integrated part of the Alarm Monitoring System (AMS) and tank gauging system also being supplied by CMR. The scope of supply includes flow meters forthree main engines, an ABB PLC to manage the FMS program and a dedicated BEIJER 10” touch screen HMI, which will be used to monitor the fuel consumption for the engines plus two gensets and bow thrusters.
Interfaces with the navigation system will allow the FMS to display the SOG (Speed Over the Ground) reading, while integration with the AMS and tank gauging system will allow the FMS to display fuel tank level information.
“CMR Products has consistently delivered reliable, cost effective, quality AMS solutions to the vessels out fitted by System Electric. I have no doubt that the new Fuel Monitoring System that we are developing with them will also be a success,” said
Sabari Kannath, Group Technology and Operation Officer, System Electric.
CMR Products is working closely with System Electric to implement the FMS algorithm with on-board testing of the prototype expected to be completed by September. If successful, the FMS could be implemented on future new vessels built at yards operated by Australian shipbuilding firm Strategic Marine Pty Ltd.
